What are the US passport photo requirements?
A color photo taken in the last 6 months, 2 × 2 inches, with the head 1 to 1⅜ inches (25–35 mm) from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head. Face the camera with a neutral expression or a natural smile and both eyes open, on a plain white or off-white background. Glasses are not allowed.
What size is the photo for online renewal?
Online renewal takes a square JPG from 600 × 600 to 1200 × 1200 pixels, between 54 KB and 10 MB. "Download photo" gives a 1200 × 1200 px JPG that meets both limits.
Will a photo with a replaced background be accepted?
The State Department asks for an unedited photo. The safest way is to stand in front of a plain white wall and choose "Keep original": the tool then only crops and resizes your photo. A new background is fine for forms with looser rules.
Where can I print 2×2 passport photos?
Download the 4 × 6 inch sheet and order it as a normal photo print at a pharmacy, supermarket or photo store, then cut along the grey lines. If you print it yourself, choose actual size, not "fit to page".
Can I wear glasses in a US passport photo?
No. Glasses have not been allowed since 2016, unless you cannot remove them for medical reasons; then you need a signed statement from your doctor.
