Frequently Asked Questions
What are the Japan visa photo requirements?
A colour photo taken within the last 6 months, 45 × 45 mm at most embassies, showing your face from the front with no hat, on a plain white background without shadows. Hair should not cover your face, and glasses must not reflect light.
Is the Japan visa photo 45×45 or 35×45 mm?
It depends on the embassy. Most ask for 45 × 45 mm; some, such as the embassy in New Delhi, ask for 35 × 45 mm. Check the list from the embassy or visa centre where you apply and pick the matching size in the menu.
How many photos do I need?
Usually one, glued to the visa application form. One 10 × 15 cm print gives six.
Can I wear glasses?
Only if they do not reflect light and your eyes are clearly visible. Taking them off is the safest choice.
Where can I print it?
Download the 10 × 15 cm sheet and print it as a normal photo at a photo shop, then cut along the grey lines. At home, print the A4 PDF at 100% size, not "fit to page".
