Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Australia visa photo requirements?

A photo less than 6 months old, 35 × 45 mm, with the head 32–36 mm from chin to crown, showing your full head, neck and shoulders, facing the camera with a neutral expression, eyes open and mouth closed, on a plain light background. Nothing may cover the face or hair unless for religious or cultural reasons.

Can I use it for an Australian passport?

The size and head fit the passport rules (35–40 × 45–50 mm, head 32–36 mm). Passport photos must also be printed by a photo lab on glossy photo paper, not on an inkjet printer.

What file do I attach in ImmiAccount?

A sharp colour photo. "Download photo" gives a 700 × 900 px JPG with the same framing as the 35 × 45 mm print.

Is a light grey background allowed?

Yes. A plain white or light grey background works, as long as it contrasts with your face and has no shadows.

Where can I print it?

Print the 10 × 15 cm sheet at a photo lab and cut along the grey lines. For an A4 page, print at 100% size, not "fit to page".
