Your privacy

Screenshots often show messages, bank balances or account numbers. The PNG is turned into a JPG inside your browser, so the image never leaves your device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my PNG file so large?

PNG keeps every pixel exactly. That suits logos and text, but a photo or a screenshot of a photo can be five to ten times bigger as PNG than as JPG.

When should I keep PNG instead?

Keep PNG for logos, icons, drawings and images with a transparent background. JPG blurs sharp edges slightly and cannot store transparency.

What happens to transparent areas?

JPG has no transparency, so those areas become white. To keep them see-through, convert to WebP instead.

Is the conversion lossless?

No. JPG always drops some detail. At the default 85% quality it is hard to see; raise the slider to 95% for documents with small text.
