Frequently Asked Questions
Will my photo be accepted?
The tool gets the size, framing and background right. Acceptance also depends on the photo itself: look straight at the camera with a neutral expression and both eyes open, no glasses (for most countries), no shadows on the face, and a recent photo. Check the exact rules of the office that will receive it.
How do I print passport photos cheaply?
Download the 10×15 cm sheet and print it as a normal 4×6 inch photo at a pharmacy or photo shop, then cut along the grey lines. At home, print the A4 PDF at 100% size, not "fit to page".
Which size do I need?
Many countries use 35×45 mm, including the UK, Schengen countries, India and Australia. The US uses 2×2 inches, Canada 50×70 mm and the China visa 33×48 mm. Many ID cards and school forms ask for 3×4 or 4×6 cm.
Why does the first photo take longer?
The first time, your browser downloads the face finder and the background remover (about 13 MB). They are kept on your device, so the next photos are ready in a few seconds.
Can I use it for an online application?
Yes. "Download photo" gives a JPG at the exact size in pixels (for example 413×531 for 35×45 mm, 600×600 for 2×2 inches), which most online forms accept.
